ARTIST
Myra Yurtiwa Cook was born at Kartjinguku Creek near Warakurna in the East Gibson Desert in 1932. Myra began painting with Warakurna Artists in 2005 and has become one of its senior emerging artists. Myra paints important Ngaanyatjarra stories from her mothers and fathers country. The area dwelt by the Ngaanyatjarra people has a record of human habitation going back some 10,000 years.
PAINTING
This painting depicts a story from Myra's mother's country, Lirrun. A serpent snake man came from the South of Pukarra. The snake had been trying to steal a girl to become his wife. She called all the feather foot men and ntye chased him away to Pukarra.
