EUNICE PORTER (c. 1948)

Eunice Porter was born in 1948 and is a respected leader and artist in the Warakurna Community.  She was born at Wirrkural and lived with her family in the bush before attending school at Warburton Mission from about the age of ten.  In 1974 Porter moved to Warakurna, the country of her late husband.   Eunice began painting with Warakurna Artists in 2005, where she has become one of its most exciting emerging artists with her vibrant powerful Tjukurrpa (dreaming) and contemporary stories.   Eunice is a well known dancer and ritual leader who regularly participates in Turlku (ceremony).
